LGBTQ+ Healthcare in Columbus

Affirmations Psychological Services has served the Columbus LGBTQIA+ community for over 40 years and provides affirming individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, and gender-affirming psychological evaluations. Therapists are trained in minority stress, identity development, trauma, anxiety, depression, and the specific mental health needs of LGBTQ+ adults, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds. Services are available at three Columbus-area offices.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation operates a national network of outpatient Healthcare Centers providing HIV/AIDS primary care, HIV testing, and STI diagnosis and treatment. Healthcare Centers serve patients regardless of ability to pay. AHF also operates wellness centers and pharmacies providing HIV prevention and sexual health services across the United States.

Central Outreach Wellness Center is an LGBTQ+-affirming sexual health clinic in Columbus providing same-day and walk-in appointments for PrEP initiation, HIV care and testing, STI testing and treatment, and gender-affirming care. The clinic accepts major insurance and offers a sliding-scale fee for uninsured patients, assisting with enrollment in health coverage and assistance programs. Providers are specifically trained in LGBTQ+ health and create a welcoming, judgment-free environment.

Equitas Health is one of the largest LGBTQ+-serving health systems in the United States, and the Short North location provides comprehensive primary care, gender-affirming hormone therapy, HIV care, PrEP, STI testing, mental health counseling, and pharmacy services. The organization accepts most insurance including Medicaid and offers a sliding-scale fee for income-eligible patients. Saturday morning appointments are available to accommodate working patients.

The center also connects clients to broader LGBTQ+ health and social service resources across Columbus.
